SAFETY PRECAUTIONS WHEN SHOOTING STEEL
As a shooting enthusiast or experienced shooter, general rifle shooting safety should be drilled into all and the following safety precautions apply when shooting steel:

MOST IMPORTANT - Ensure you have a safe a backstop

Always point your firearms in a safe direction

Always keep your firearms unloaded when not using it

Avoid shooting in the general direction of populated areas

Ensure your shooting position is square on to the steel target you are shooting at. This will minimise chances of ricochet

Do not shoot a target that is leaning back. This will minimise dangerous ricochet
MAXIMISE YOUR TARGETS LIFE
Hardox500 targets are durable and the correct choice of target, but it is important to understand its limitations. There are two main aspects to consider:
BULLET SPEED - It is important to understand that SPEED KILLS STEEL. This might come as a surprise but smaller and faster calibres cause more damage that larger and heavier ones. Please be cautious of calibres like .243, 22-250 and 223.
ENGAGEMENT DISTANCE - Your bullets have their highest velocity when they leave the muzzle of your rifle. It is important not only for the shooters safety but the condition of your target, to engage a Hardox500 target at a suitable distance in relation to the calibre being used.
